Adding multiple uptime monitors for the same URL/IP

You can add more Uptime Monitors for your website right in the Add Uptime Monitor – Step 1 window by clicking the “+” icon next to Add protocols you would like to monitor and selecting the protocol you want to add.Add Uptime Monitor - Step 1

The added Uptime Monitors will be using the common URL/IP that you have provided, but different protocols. The monitors will be created in bulk in your Monitis account, one per each protocol added as soon as you finish the setup.

All the added Uptime Monitors will appear in the same window.

After you have added and configured all your Uptime Monitors, click Next. The Add Uptime Monitor – Step 2 window will open.

Follow the instructions below to select your monitor group, provide the monitor name, set the monitoring check interval and select monitoring locations.

Select monitor group from the Select Monitor Group combo box. You can also create a new monitor group by clicking on the “+” icon next to Add Group.

Enter a name for your monitor under Enter Monitor Name.

Note: The monitor name you enter will be used for all your Uptime Monitors created in bulk here, with an addition to the name specifying the protocol, e.g “example.com_tcp”. You can change the name of the monitor at any time after by clicking the icon in the top right corner of the monitor to open the context menu, and selecting Settings.


Set the monitoring frequency for your website. By default, the check interval is set 1 min. Move the stepped slider under Check Interval (min) to increase the check interval.

Select the locations you want your website to be monitored from by checking the boxes next to the location names under Monitoring Locations.

Note: the set monitoring frequency and the selected locations will apply to all your Uptime Monitors created in bulk here. You can change it at any time later by clicking the icon in the top right corner of any of the monitors to open the context menu and selecting Settings.

You can set monitoring frequency here separately for each location chosen.

Note:  It is strongly recommended to alert only after a monitor has failed from at least two locations for all monitors using multiple locations.  This will reduce network noise.

Click Add when finished.

–          Click Send to All Contacts if you want to send alerts for the created monitors to all contacts.

–          Click Custom Configuration (Advanced) to configure sending alerts for these monitors only to selected contacts. The Add notification rules window will open. Click on the Add Alert Rule button to configure alert rule(s) for your monitor (see Adding Alerts and Managing Alert Rules).

Click Don’t Send Alerts if you don’t want any alerts for these monitors to be sent.

Your newly created Uptime Monitors will appear in your Monitis Dashboard. Wait until they will load their first data.

To manage any of your monitors, click on the icon in the top right corner of the monitor to open the context menu.
